Could have been so much better and just a bit boring!

Not the first time it's been done, but it's always interesting seeing how different photographers interpret it and what works and doesn't. I spent a good 2 weeks researching how i would be able to make my own images 3D for my final major project, and after lots of headaches and photoshop tutorials i got the 'jist' of it.

For their September 2010 issue Vogue Italia featured new "yummy mummy" Miranda Kerr. The images are pretty basic which i think is a shame. They could have really gone for it, because a complicated image with lots of depth is so much more exciting to view in 3D than just an image of a half naked woman. Although i'm sure thousands of Italian men would happily argue with me.

Guess who?

Clue 1 - She's been in Playboy

Clue 2 - She's Dashing

I got into mummy's makeup box

Take a Geisha, mix it with a Punk/Raver and this is what i think you'd end up witht! It's a sham but i don't really know anything else about these images apart from that they were shot by Maurizio Fantini. The website is amazing!!

Polish designer Bea Szenfeld created her “Sur la Plage” collection taking inspiration from sea life, mermaids, and fish, and it's hard to believe but each garment is made of paper and by hand!!

Happy Birthday ID

ID has hit the big 3.0! and for 3 weeks they held an elaborate photoshoot at Somerset House collaborating with Nick Knight to document the turn of the decade. The theme of the shoot was then, now and next. Almost 200 people took part in the project including Florence Welch, Vivienne Westwood, Lara Stone, Pink and Gareth Pugh, all shot entirely in black and white. But they saved the best for the cover, although i'm not a massive Naomi Cambell fan!

Mr Anthony Kent

I've recently been spending a lot of time with my grandad, Tony. I always knew that when he was younger he collected butterflies, but I never knew that my dad and his brothers were also fascinated.
I was round his house the other day and asked to see his collection, he keeps them all in 2 grand cabinets in his office.
The room always smells the same, of moth balls, paper and ink. It takes a little getting used to but once he opened the draws showing millions of butterflies I was overwhelmed. I remember him showing me them when I was much younger, but I had never appreciated how much time he had spent maintaining them and presenting them. Underneath every butterfly was a small white note, listing the name of the butterfly and where he had caught it.
My grandad has recently been diagnosed with dementia but for nearly 2 hours he listed the latin names for each butterfly and told me stories of family holidays when he would sneak lava into the wardrobe and breed rare butterflies. He told me which butterflies I could catch on the Epsom Downs and showed me butterflies he had collected which were not even in the national butterfly journal because they were so rare.
After talking for hours I asked him, if he was a butterfly which would he be?

The Camberwell Beauty

He said it was because they are the rarest butterfly and one has not been spotted in around 6 years and that if I am to see one I should know how lucky I am.

I would like to be a Peacock Butterfly

But it seem I am not the only one to be inspired....

Those sneaky people over at ASOS managed to snag Olivia Palermo for their cover.

Just makes me smile, nothing else to it

My Only One

Giving old garments new life. The dress was created from a Barber jacket i found in Oxfam and a tweed jacket with yellow pin strip lining.

WAH! Nails

Cesare Paciotti's New Sole

Cesare Paciotti has given their soles a makeover for 2011, covering the leather in a fine lace print.  For winter, the black lace comes on a red background and for spring it will be printed over nude leather.

Im not loving the shoes but the soles are to die for.  Where as I used to keep an eye out for a flash of red Louboutin, i'll now get butterflies in my stomach when i get a glimpse of red leather and lace print.
